CREATING KURIBING TO HELP FARMERS

The work of three students of the University of Islam Malang (Unisma) could be good news for goat farmers in Malang. They have discovered a tool which can help calm the goat when the breeder will inject it.

They are Nurkasanah, Febri Hariyadi, and Ayu Rahmanda who create a tool called kuribing or goat chairs. This tool is a portable chair used when performing artificial insemination (injecting the goats) so as not to rebel.

“This idea emerged from the concerns of farmers who want to reproduce goats by artificial insemination” said Ayu Rahmanda.

According to her, the artificial insemination is able to breed more goats than the the natural breeding. Moreover, the natural breeding frequently fails. “We hope this can improve the genetic quality of goats,” She explained.

This tool has also been tested in Dau Sub-District, Malang Regency and tried out to 10 goats in which  6 of them are successfully pregnant.

“This tool is portable which can be brought on a motorcycle, “She said. This tool is also included in the student creativity program (PKM)
