At the symposium event organized by the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, representative of the Unisma Faculty of Medicine (FK) lecturer, dr. Erna Sulistyowati, M. Kes., Ph.D won the “Best Oral Presenter”. The symposium which was held on October 12, 2019 was titled, “The First Jogjakarta Annual Meeting of Pharmacology en Theraphy” (The 1st JAPEMETHE).
Erna, the nickname of the lecturer who also served as vice dean 1 of Unisma medical faculty, won the oral presentation compe tition at the symposium on Drug Toxicology: from Molecular to Clinical.
The lecturer who was pursuing research on herbal plants as a hypertension drug said that through the results of the study it was known about the benefits of a combination of gotu kola and gandarusa leaves with alang-alang roots as a hypertension drug that is able to preventkidney damage.
Dr. Erna has successfully published articles in many reputable international journals. Some of her publications reveal the importance of promoting traditional herbal medicine as part of the treatment of degenerative diseases such as hypertension.
“The use of herbal plants as medicine cannot be underestimated; it enables  people to treat the disease independently rather than just rely on synthetic drugs.” said Dr. Erna
