The ratification of the Job Creation Bill or referred to Omnibus Law or Job Creation Law which was held by the Indonesian house of representatives  a month ago is still causing polemic in the community; hence further discussions are needed to rectify negative stigma and inappropriate understanding on the Omnibus Law (5/11). University of Islam Malang in collaboration with the Indonesian Rector Forum presented a national webinar entitled “Job Creation Law: Between Expectations and Challenges to Improve Community Welfare Towards Global Competitiveness”.
Indonesian Minister of Trade, Agus Suparmanto, SE, Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Dra. Hj. Ida Fauziyah, M.Si, as well as the rector of the Indonesian University, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, MA., P.hD, presented the Job Creation Law. One of the topics discussed was about increasing the global competitiveness of Indonesian trade for the welfare of the community, employment from the perspective of workers and entrepreneurs, and the Indonesian economy.
“This law offers benefits in the trade sector i.e. providing legal certainty with ease of doing business. For global competitiveness, it can facilitate access to market access financing, MSME protection, easy business opportunities and corporate development, and opportunities to maximize local startups, “explained the Indonesian Minister of Trade.
Regarding employment, Dr. Dra. Hj. Ida Fauziyah, M.Si, said that the existence of the Job Creation Law still protects workers’ rights without harming workers.
“The Job Creation Law will be in side with job seekers, workers, and people who have lost their jobs due to layoffs. We consistently provide protection which  is needed to simplify synchronization of the many rules and regulations that hinder job creation so that it can increase the ease of doing business in Indonesia, “she explained.
As the organizer of the webinar, Unisma rector, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si, hopes that this agenda can be useful for the community. “Through this webinar, hopefully it can provide further enlightenment and support government policies,” he added.
