400 PACKAGES OF DAILY NEEDS

University of Islam Malang (Unisma) showed empathy in order to ease the burden of underprivileged citizens due to the outbreak of the Corona virus. This leading Nahdlatul Ulama campus provided 400 packages of daily needs and handsanitizers.

Noor Shodiq Askandar SE, MM, the vice rector 2, handed in the package symbolically to the head of local neighborhood. Many have thought about anticipating the spread of the Corona virus, but rarely have thought about how the poor can eat during government restrictions on activities.

“We prioritize this program for special freelance workers and small traders. Unisma also empathizes with the lower economic community, where they not only think about how to avoid this dangerous virus, but how they can eat everyday,” said Noor Shodiq , Friday (03/04).

On the same occasion the Vice Rector 2 said that Unisma had a noble intention to give something useful to the community even though they were only at home. It also leaves messages to companies and rich people to share with the poor, allowing them  to stay home better.

This Unisma social program provides assistance to the lower classes. It is hoped that this can also be a stimulus for those who are able to take action together.

This social concern program involves the heads of local neighborhoods for better distribution of the packages to the right persons. The first distribution of packages was performed around local neighborhood 5 at once which is then continued to a wider area. Other helps were also handed in symbolically to HM Sanusi, the regent of Malang.

“This program is also targeted to the nighbors of lecturers who are really in need. The lecturers, who already have fixed monthly salary,  are instructed to set aside their income for this social program. ” Noor Shodiq added.

Representing the residents, Mr. Anugerah, the head of local neighborhood 4 located at MT Haryono street, Dinoyo, Malang, said that he was very happy with this Unisma’s concern. “I am very happy that my citizens were given packages of daily needs. I myself did not expect to get help from this leading campus,” said Anugerah.

He acknowledged that not all residents in the Dinoyo area received this special package. In order to be right on target, those who receive the package are based on selection from the heads of local neighborhoods.
