INTENSIFYING INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

University of Islam Malang (Unisma) strengthens international cooperation including with Thailand. They cooperate in various fields and in nearly all majors particularly regarding the research on development of halal  (kosher) food and tourism products.

According to the Rector of Unisma, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si, it is necessary to strengthen various collaborations to respond to the dynamics of the more advanced education. Strengthening this network is also to improve the quality of education services.

The rector of Unisma expressed that, “this cooperation with Thailand is a concrete attempt to lead to  a World Class University,” he said, Wednesday (07/31).

Many programs have been established in collaboration with Thailand, especially with Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep (UTK) Thailand,  including lecturer and student exchanges, joint research and curriculum, scholarships, and the writing forpublication in internationally reputable journals.

All faculties at Unisma followed up this collaboration and even after the signing of the MoU, each department directly discussed with UTK Thailand.

The executive delegation from UTK Thailand, Sakthip Krairikh PhD, asserted that this collaboration was immediately signed and followed up with concrete talks to formulate a joint degree strategic step.

“Meanwhile the priority of the collaboration is research to realize the halal center. The halal food as research results recommended by the Rajamangala campus has become a major consumption of Muslims in Thailand. We also have a special department that researches halal products, including halal tourists, “explained SakthipKrairikh.
