Innovations in Agricuture

The Faculty of Agriculture of Universitas Islam Malang is developing the Agrotechnopreneurprogram. This program is one of the motivations of the Faculty of Agriculture to create Healthy Agri Culture atmosphere.

Agro Technopreneur has two fields, namely agribusiness and plant cultivation. The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture of Unisma, Dr. Ir. Nurhidayati, MP explained that agribusiness is a field of processing agricultural products oriented to  business and marketing. “In this field we teach and train students to be able to develop their talents in entrepreneurship through agriculture, “saidDean of the Faculty of Agriculture.

She also said that Agrobusiness study program includes the social and economic content of agriculture so that students are not only good at entrepreneurship but also able to establishgood communication with the community. “The training is conducted when we guide them in counseling activities in the field of community empowerment,” she added.

The Agro Technopreneur in the field of plant cultivation was specifically developed by the Agro Technology Study Program. This cultivation system starts from tillage, planting to maintenance. This cultivation system starts from tillage, planting, maintaining and producing plants or agricultural products that are truly high in quality.

Therefore, innovations need to be directed towards increasing the production and quality of agricultural products. As a breakthrough, lecturers and students make compost engineering with high nutritional value. The innovation is a form of nutrition management in the soil. Fertilizers that are created have  high anti-oxidant contents.

“This fertilizer manipulation is an innovation that aims at increasing the production and quality of agricultural products. As a result the plants consumed by humans have high nutrition value,” she said.

Fertilizer manipulation is performed due to the fact that factory-made fertilizers contain chemicals that apparently inhibit plant growth “which subsequently affects the agricultueal products,” Nurhidayati added.
