MALANG REGENCY GO GREEN

One of the three pillarsof Higher Education is community service. This is a mandatory that must be fulfilled by every higher education institution.  University of Islam Malang (Unisma) held an international community service collaboration last Saturday (29/6). The agenda entitled “Unisma International Community Services 2019: Going Green and Living in Harmony for Global Civilization” collaborated with Malang Regency Government.

The program targeted Sitiarjo village, precisely at the Cinta Alquran Islamic Boarding School, Gua China, and Watu Leter Beach, Sumbermanjing Wetan District. The activity involved 25 foreign students from the United States, Japan, Britain, Somalia, Egypt, Thailand, Libya, Timor Leste, Australia, South Korea and Syria.

The program also received additional donation, 200 fruit plants from Malang Regency Government to be distributed to the service area.

“We do community service by planting 200 plants in a strategic place while introducing Malang Regency tourism. Moreover, there are 25 foreign students. Hopefully, they will get familiar with Malang Regency better. They will understand Malang traditions and promote them in their own countries, “said the Rector of Unisma, Prof. Maskuri.

In addition, Prof. Maskuri added that Unisma provides a scholarship for international students.

” There will be two foreign students in each  study program. We ask them to disseminate this scholarship starting this year. The distribution of the country will be expanded again, not just 24 countries,” he concluded.
