There are many hopes and messages conveyed by Unisma’s rector, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si, in the freshmen inauguration entitled “Potential, Creative Spirit in Art Appreciation”. The inauguration was held at the Al Asy’ari Unisma Round Building (24/11). Prof. Maskuri hopes that the activity can prepare students to participate in education at Unisma
“This activity has its own message and meaning for students. At the same time it can improve self-capacity, develop creativity, and later be able to compete in the midst of competitive national and international student dynamics,” he said. To boost competence and comparative power in the midst of global competition, Prof. Maskuri added that we will make a number of new breakthroughs.
The breakthroughs are from giving an extra credit to student activeness to curriculum reconstruction. “This is to allow Unisma students to have a variety of experiences, understanding events at national, regional or international levels. We want Unisma students to be tough and able to compete with even the best university” he said.
Regarding the changes in the curriculum, Prof. Maskuri explained that students have the freedom to develop interests, talents, innovation, critical thinking, able to communicate politely, and be able to collaborate.
“Our students are given the freedom to develop their creations and we accommodate them with certain procedures so that they have great abilities. This is the curriculum that will be designed in the future,” he explained.
Inauguration was more alive with special performances from 10 faculties namely the Faculty of Islamic studies, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Business and Economics, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, and Faculty of Law.
