THE 8TH LUSTRUM OF UNISMA

The commemoration of the 8th Lustrum of Unisma was very lively. The marathon music concert was brought by a well-known Indonesian singers led by Umi Kulsum of Indonesia. The Alma Esbeye Umi Kulsum Music Concert of Indonesia, which was enlivened by Nur Laili Rizky and Ziyah El Adawiyah, was held on a hybrid basis, namely offline and online.

This limited participant agenda was attended by campus leaders at the Unisma’s Round Building on Wednesday (24/3/2021) night. While other participants enjoyed online via the YouTube live streaming connection of Unisma official public relations and TV9 Nusantara.

Even though it is online and offline, the implementation of the 8th Lustrum, which marks Unisma’s 40th anniversary, did not diminish the solemnity of the event and its excitement.

The rector of Unisma, Prof. Dr. H Maskuri M.Si, said that this mega event was a momentum to announce to the world that Unisma was ready to move to a World Class University. “We use all media platforms. We do offline and online. Of course, it is more lively because it can be reached by anyone, even attended by participants from abroad, namely the caretakers of special branch of NU abroad,” explained the rector.

Meanwhile, the head of the committee, Dr. Ir Hj Istirochah Pujiwati, stated that the theme of this event was the 8th Lustrum as a momentum to strengthen Unisma as a superior campus moving towards a World Class University. “The 8th Lustrum of Unisma will be held for 10 months with 100 activities that have been designed by the committee. We hope everything can run well” she said.

In the music concert, Umi Kulsum of Indonesia Alma Esbeye performed a number of songs such as Sapu Jagat. During the singing session, she expressed her hope that Unisma would continue to be a beacon for moderate Islamic campuses. “Alma hopes and prays that Unisma will be more successful and beneficial  and hopefully it can go international as a world class university,” she said.
