Having concern with moral decadence, religion radicalism, materialistic and hedonism, Scout activity unit of University of Islam Malang (Unisma) held religion based competition. That competition is partly geared to build better understanding on Islam as Rahmaanlilaalamin and to assess their independence skill. They compete for the cups and scholarship of Ministry of Religion Affairs and Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia.
The rector of Unisma, Prof. Dr. H. Masykuri M.Si, asserted that “we have serious concern with moral decadence, religion radicalism, materialistic and hedonism afflicting our society. As part of our moral responsibility, Unisma initiated this activity which involves youths so that they will accept the diversity and prefer simple living” the rector said, Thursday (2507/2019).
Wildan Ridzah Zidani, head of Racana Board who is also Unisma student and chief of the committee, affirms that this competition includes 13 competitions categorized into two areas, religion and scout based competitions.
The religion based materials include the handling of the dead and drawing calligraphy. The scout based competitions include pioneering i.e. rigging combined with stick use, Kolone i.e. the marching using stick, and Idol Camp i.e. decorating the tents.
Wildan also added that the participants of this year consist of 264 students of Senior High Schools comprising 18 male and 15 female teams for Java and Bali chapters. The participants will compete for cups and scholarships of Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Religion Affairsof the Republic of Indonesia.
