EXPANDING COOPERATION TO THE NETHERLANDS

University of Islam Malang (Unisma) expanded  international cooperation even broader after an online meeting with the Ambassador  of Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands (30/11).

Unisma rector, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si, hopes that the cooperation between Unisma and overseas campuses will expand to the Netherlands. So far, Unisma has built cooperation with 127 foreign universities from 33 Asian and European countries. However, there are no Dutch universities that have collaborated with Unisma.

“Hopefully after the meeting with the Ambassador, there will be a new door for Unisma to expand cooperation with universities in the Netherlands,” said Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si

He further explained that Unisma has gained trust from abroad. It is noted that there are more than 200 foreign students studying at this campus. Currently there are more than 100 students studying online due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Furthermore, Prof. Maskuri assures that Unisma has a strong determination to improve the quality of educational institutions that can be built with partnerships as has been done by Unisma. The concept of Independent Learning and Independent Campus opens wide opportunities for universities to implement joint research, student exchanges, learning exchanges, international seminars to joint curriculum.

Unisma has done them all with overseas campuses, including with campuses in Russia, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Australia and others. “In the near future, I hope that Unisma can land in cooperation with the Netherlands,” said Prof. Maskuri.

The wish of the Rector of Unisma was welcomed by the Ambassador of Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E Mayerfas. “We welcome Unisma’s determination. We are sure that in the near future the rector’s hope to build cooperation with universities or research institutes in the Netherlands will be realized, “he hoped.

Ambassador Mayerfas who was accompanied by the Education and Cultural Attache of the Indonesian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Din Wahid, expressed that Unisma’s initiative to build links with Dutch universities was very strategic because according to him, Dutch universities are more advanced.

“Unisma can work together in various fields including research or pursuing higher  education levels to the Netherlands for Unisma lecturers and students , “he said.
