Unisma held a training program for principals’ competence improvement at Aster Hotel Batu, Tuesday, (9/10/19). As an Institution of Training and Education (LPD), Unisma held the activity in collaboration with LP2KS and LP4TK BOE Malang

The head  of LPD Unisma, Dr. Nur Fajar Arief M.Pd, said that the enhancement of  principal competence  is mandatory for all levels principals appointed before April 2018. Whereas those who have been appointed after April 2018 are required to take part in the training of prospective principals.

According to him, the total number of participants in this activity is 817 coming from Kediri district education office. Participants will be included in five batches starting from 10 September to 4 November 2019.

“At the beginning and end of the activity, pre-test and post-test activities were carried out as well as an assessment of attitudes and skills to determine the eligibility of granting graduation status and school principal certificates,” he added.

The principal has a strategic role in improving the quality, relevance and competitiveness of education. The principal also has an important role to play in forming intelligent and competitive Indonesian people through their sincerity and creativity in managing the school for which they are responsible.

As a consequence, principals must be people who are competent in terms of qualifications and competencies. “For this reason, high competency is demanded by the school principal,” he said.
