In the moment of  39th anniversary of  University of Islam Malang (Unisma), this university invited the present vice president of the Republic of Indonesia, K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, to be a the speaker of the Studium Generale with the theme of  “Spirit of the Archipelago in Developing the People’s Economy” and to launch Unisma as the pioneer campus of the Anti-Radicalism Movement on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the Al-Asyari Building, Prof. Dr. KH. Mohammad Tholhah Hasan Auditorium, Unisma.

On March 29, 2018, President Jokowi came to this Nahdliyin’s pride campus,   to inaugurate a building with a capacity of 7,000 people. In the second period after being inaugurated, the vice-president, K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, who was given the mandate to guard the anti-radicalism movement, was present at Unisma and used the same building.

As an Islamic University, one of Unisma visions is to give students understanding about the teachings of Islam which are moderate, harmonious, tolerant and proportionate, and helping one and others so that they will be a pioneer of development who always promote a situation of harmony that respects cultural and ethnic differences.

K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, the vice President of the Republic of Indonesia said that he had a special affinity with Unisma, “My eldest daughter is an alumni of the Law Faculty of Unisma in 1992 and graduated in 1996” he said.

With the presence of the 13th vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, it is expected to be able to provide fresh air about Wasathiyahor moderate Islam and provide a new understanding to Unisma’s community members to strengthen the position of Unisma who developed Wasathiyah Islam. Harmonious and tolerant Islam will be stronger because in this university both curricular and non-curricular activities exist.

According to the rector of Unisma, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si,  K.H. Ma’ruf Amin is a figure who truly understands  the concept of wasatiyah Islam or understood the teachings of the moderate Islam so that it is very feasible if the President of the Republic of Indonesia gives a mandate to him to oversee anti-radicalism and deradicalization. This is felt to be a fit between the President’s wishes and Unisma as an institution that develops human resources. In the future, Unisma Alumni will color many sectors and develop various harmonious life styles.

Othet important guests were also present at Unisma on that day including  the governor of East Java, Khofifah Indarparawansa, East Java Regional Police Chief, Brawijaya V Military Commander, Regents and Mayors of Malang, Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah throughout Malang, Rectors of Higher Education in Malang , coordinator of private and Islamic  universities, as well as Malang Islamic University  bank partners and many more.
