Students from Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) have achieved remarkable success at the Youth International Science Fair (YISF) 2025. Two student organizations, UKM Kreativitas dan Inovasi (Kreasi) and UKM Global Language Community, proudly secured multiple medals and trophies in this prestigious international competition organized by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA).
“This is an extraordinary achievement by our students from UKM Kreasi. Alhamdulillah, despite being a newly established organization, they have already achieved international recognition—winning four medals at once!” said UNISMA’s Rector, Prof. Drs. H. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D., on Tuesday (February 18).
YISF 2025 welcomed hundreds of participants from 24 countries, competing in various categories such as Engineering, Social Science, and Life Science. The event serves as a platform for young researchers to develop innovative ideas that address real-world problems.
Prof. Junaidi highlighted that UKM Kreasi was established as a hub for students passionate about research and academic studies. The student teams transform their ideas into research papers, which can then be submitted to competitions.
“Our students’ creativity, as demonstrated through UKM Kreasi, has been recognized externally. Winning at YISF, a prestigious competition for young scientists, is proof of their excellence. We sent four cross-department teams, and they all won medals—both silver and bronze,” he explained.
UNISMA’s Vice Rector III, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, M.Pd., emphasized that the university is committed to developing students’ soft skills through student organizations like UKM Kreasi. He pointed out that UNISMA encourages students to excel not only in academics but also in arts, culture, sports, and beyond. “We continuously implement various strategies and innovations to maximize students’ potential through UKM activities,” he added.
In addition to their triumph at YISF 2025, UNISMA students also excelled at the National Essay Competition in the Inspire X Summit Fest held by Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) on February 16. “Alhamdulillah, our students from the Faculty of Medicine also demonstrated their outstanding competence in this event,” said Vice Rector III with pride.
These achievements further solidify UNISMA’s reputation as a center for academic and extracurricular excellence, empowering students to compete and succeed on both national and international stages.
