Universitas Islam Malang’s Lembaga Pemeriksa Halal Universitas Islam Malang (LPH UNISMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance (JPH) ecosystem. This commitment was demonstrated through the participation of its Head, Jeni Susyanti, in the Qualification and Competency Enhancement Training for LPHs organized by the Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH), Deputy for Partnership and Halal Standardization. The training was held on November 5–7, 2025, at Jambuluwuk Hotel, Bogor.
The event brought together 30 participants from BPJPH and 70 representatives of Halal Inspection Bodies (LPH) from across Indonesia. The forum served as a strategic platform to align policies, strengthen institutional capacity, and formulate concrete steps to enhance the quality of regular halal certification services nationwide.
Throughout the training sessions, Dr. Jeni Susyanti actively engaged in key discussions covering several crucial areas:
- Standardization of inspection procedures, ensuring uniformity and precision in halal audits across all LPH institutions in Indonesia.
- Human resource development, focusing on strengthening the competence, professionalism, and integrity of halal auditors.
- Expansion of service scope, enabling LPH UNISMA to extend halal certification services to a wider range of industry sectors in response to growing business needs.
- Strengthening the accreditation system, with the goal of elevating LPH UNISMA’s status to become a Primary (Utama) LPH.
Participation in this national training reflects not only regulatory compliance but also UNISMA’s broader commitment to becoming an adaptive and progressive institution amid the rapid growth of Indonesia’s halal industry.
“Enhancing competency is essential. As one of the active LPH institutions, we bear the responsibility to ensure that regular halal certification processes are conducted professionally, accountably, and in full accordance with Islamic principles,” Dr. Jeni emphasized.
Internally, LPH UNISMA continues to upgrade its human resource capacity through regular Technical Guidance (Bimtek) programs on Halal Certification. These initiatives are designed to produce reliable and competent halal auditors who can serve at the forefront of implementing the Halal Product Assurance system.
Through active engagement in national forums such as this, LPH UNISMA further solidifies its role as a strategic partner of the government and business sector in advancing Indonesia’s ambition to become a Global Halal Production Hub.
