Tim mahasiswa Universitas Islam Malang (Unisma) lolos seleksi proposal Kegiatan Bisnis Manajemen Mahasiswa Indonesia (KBMI).
Menurut dosen pembimbing tim KBMI, Cokelat Raut Topeng Malangan, Dr. Surya Sari Faradiba,S.Si MPd, terpuruknya ekonomi lantaran pandemi Covid-19 membuat sebagian masyarakat kehilangan pekerjaan.
The proposal of Unisma student team passed selection for the Indonesian Student Management Business Activities. This prestigious program is organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, which is participated by almost all universities in Indonesia. Amazingly, this leading NU campus managed to pass two teams at once, one of which was under the theme of Chocolate Malangan (Malang city style) Mask.
The Indonesian Student Management Business Activities team supervisor of Chocolate Malangan Mask, Dr. Surya Sari Faradiba, S.Si, MPd, said that the economic downturn due to the Covid-19 pandemic made some people lose their jobs. As a lecturer, she also felt the uneasiness of students who were just starting their business. Initially these students produced food made from chocolate in the form of Malangan mask.
“This student team initially marketed their chocolate in tourist spots for souvenirs from Malang. However, during the pandemic the tourist attractions were closed, so their income dropped dramatically. To survive, the Chocolate Malangan Mask team made an innovation by holding a Virtual Creative Education Tour, “she said.
Dr. Surya Sari Faradiba, S.Si, MPd, the Unisma Mathematics lecturer, further said that this Virtual Creative Education Tour can be followed directly by the community especially students because every process of chocolate production is lively broadcasted so that participants can follow and carry out each stage of production in their respective homes.
The head of team, Nurul Maghfiroh, added that the Malangan Chocolate business has actually been established since February 2019. However, due to the impact of the pandemic with the closure of all tourist attractions, this chocolate product barely sells. They finally made a tutorial breakthrough on how to make Malangan chocolate masks.
“This tutorial on making chocolate is deliberately devoted to elementary and junior high school students to spend their spare time by learning how to make chocolate. In the video we intentionally insert cultural education about the history of the Malangan mask, “she concluded.[:]
