SUCCESSFULLY BRINGING HOME A GOLD MEDAL AT THE INTERNATIONAL TAEKWONDO TOURNAMENT

The 2019 Badung International Taekwondo Championship is a new international taekwondo competition held this year. This event was attended by around 1600 participants from various countries such as Thailand, Cambodia, Uzbekistan and Australia. The athletes could take part in two contested taekwondo branches either Kyourugi or Poomsae.

“So the 2019 Badung International Taekwondo Championship event will only be held this year and the participants will come from various countries. The number of participants is around 1600 people and competes in two branches of taekwondo, namely Kyourugi and Poomsae. “Kyourugi is a fighting match, while Poomsae is more art oriented,” said Muhammad Alwi Haddad.

At the event, Alwi successfully won a gold medal at the Kyourugi U-58 class.

“Yesterday, there were many contingents from campuses in Malang, such as from UB, UMM including me who represented Unisma. In the tournament I managed to get a gold medal at the Kyourugi U-58 class, “he said.

Alwi hopes that in the future he can represent the East Java team at the National Sports Week (PON) which is held every four years. Alwi, the student of English education major, wants to make up for his disappointment in failing to join the East Java contingent in the Pre-PON 2020 held in Papua next year.
