Continuously striving to improve the quality of its education, University of Islam Malang (Unisma) is again exploring international-scale cooperation with a research institution, the National Engineering Research Center for Biotechnology (NERCB) from Beijing, China. The collaboration was established and began with the signing of the MoU between the Rector of Unisma Prof. Dr. Masykuri, M.Si and Deputy Director of NERCB Prof. Yuguang Du at the Unisma Head Office on Thursday (4/7).
The collaboration will be focused on improving the quality of facilities and infrastructure for agricultural research. In addition, this collaboration is also an effort to improve the quality of education from the Nahdatul Ulamaor Ulema Council Executive Board (PBNU), which sees Unisma as the most appropriate university for collaboration with international class research institutions such as NERCB.
“Unisma will get more benefits in cooperation with international class research institutions,” said PBNU Chairperson for Education, Dr. Hanif Saha Ghofur.
Furthermore, Unisma certainly welcomed the cooperation with NERCB which was directly facilitated by PBNU related to improving the quality of education at the Nahdatul Ulama College (NU). The Rector of Unisma said that next, Unisma will visit NERCB Beijing to follow up the collaboration.
So far, Unisma has encouraged students to do their final projects abroad. The goal is to improve the quality of students’ research. “It is likely there will be a number of students from the Faculty of Agriculture going to Beijing to use the laboratory there,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director of NERCB, Prof. Yuguang Du, in his speech expressed his enthusiasm in exploring cooperation with Unisma, which was called the first collaboration between NERCB and PTNU. “We are very pleased to welcome this collaboration, Unisma is a university that develops agriculture well,” he said.
