The existence of women in various aspects of life can no longer be underestimated. Women have now proven to play many strategic roles in the community. As is the case at University of Islam Malang (Unisma), which has so far provided equal opportunities between women and men in occupying various important positions. This proves that Unisma is a university that has interpreted the real substance of gender equality.
“Unisma has interpreted the real substance of gender equality as proven by various strategic positions which are occupied by women, “said Vice Rector IV Dr. Ir. Hj. Istirochah Pujiwati, MP.
Dr. Istirochah is the first female Vice Rector at Unisma. In addition, out of 336 lecturers, 157 of them were female. Of course this is enough to illustrate the equality ratio between the roles of women and men at Unisma.
At the moment of celebrating international women’s day and Kartini day with the theme ‘balance for better’, Unisma gave awards to women staff who have great achievement.
The women at Unisma have achieved outstanding achievements in community service, research work, Scopus indexed international publications, participation in international conferences, patent acquisition, and  writing of a number of books.
“I applaud the efforts to strengthen the spirit of women in Unisma, we need to give reward and continue to carry out positive activities,” said the secretary of the Board of Unisma Foundation Dr. H. Mochtar Data, M.Pd.
