Strengthening Its Global Network, Universitas Islam Malang Establishes Partnerships with Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMW) and SEGi University

Kuala Lumpur – Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) continues to expand its global network through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with University of Malaya-Wales (UMW) and SEGi University in Malaysia. This strategic move aims to strengthen academic collaboration, research partnerships, and international programs.

The MoUs were signed by UNISMA Rector, Prof. Drs. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D., accompanied by the Head of the International Cooperation and Development Affairs (ICDA) under the International Affairs Office (LUI), Sonny Elfiyanto, M.Pd., Ph.D. Representing the partner institutions were Vice Chancellor of University of Malaya-Wales, Prof. Dr. Roselina Ahmad Saufi, FCMI, and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic, Research & Innovation) of SEGi University, Prof. Dr. Srikumar Chakravarthi.

Through its partnership with UMW, UNISMA opens opportunities for faculty members to pursue doctoral (Ph.D.) studies, collaborate in entrepreneurship programs, and participate in student mobility initiatives. UMW operates under the academic umbrella of Universiti Malaya, Malaysia’s leading university with strong international standing.

Meanwhile, SEGi University offers similar collaboration prospects, including joint research, international publications, and potential joint degree programs. Both partner universities also provide opportunities for UNISMA alumni to continue their Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) studies.

UNISMA Rector Prof. Junaidi emphasized the tangible benefits of the collaboration.

“This partnership will be cascaded down to the faculty and study program levels so that its impact becomes concrete and measurable,” he stated.

The partner institutions also expressed enthusiasm about the synergy. Prof. Roselina highlighted that collaboration with UNISMA would strengthen entrepreneurship and academic development, while Prof. Srikumar underscored the importance of research and innovation partnerships.

Moving forward, UNISMA and its partners will develop Memoranda of Agreement (MoAs) at the faculty level to ensure swift and practical implementation of the agreed programs. Through this initiative, UNISMA further solidifies its position as a globally competitive institution on its path toward becoming a World-Class University.
