The Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday Festival Becomes a Platform for Intellectual Collaboration between Universitas Islam Malang FAI Students and MAN 2 Kota Malang Students

The commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW) 1447 H at MAN 2 Kota Malang was celebrated in a vibrant and meaningful atmosphere. Beyond the traditional religious program, the event also featured an academic competition titled Islamic Smart Challenge (ISC) 2025. This quiz competition marked a collaborative initiative between students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Universitas Islam Malang (FAI UNISMA) and MAN 2 Kota Malang, blending religious values with intellectual engagement in one dynamic occasion.

ISC 2025 was organized by UNISMA students participating in their Teaching Practicum Program (PPLK) as a joint project with MAN 2 Kota Malang. The competition brought together 32 teams of students from Grade X and XI, each consisting of two members. They competed in answering academic and Islamic-related questions covering topics such as zakat calculation, faraidh (Islamic inheritance law), and adad ma’dud (Arabic numerical grammar).

The chairperson of the committee, Rafi Alhakim, explained that the main objective of ISC was not merely to test speed in calculation, but also to foster a competitive spirit and critical thinking skills among students.

“Through ISC, we aim to create a learning atmosphere that is both challenging and enjoyable. Students are tested not only on their intelligence, but also on their accuracy, teamwork, and discipline,” he stated.

The competition consisted of two rounds. The elimination round featured 30 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 20 minutes. From this stage, the top five teams advanced to the final round.

In the final round, participants faced three exciting sessions: mandatory questions answered by each team, question toss-ups, and a fast-response round using a buzzer. This format heightened the intensity and excitement of the competition.

One of the supervising teachers noted that the competition format effectively trained both students’ mental resilience and intellectual sharpness.

“The fast-response session was the most challenging. Besides knowledge, concentration and the courage to make quick decisions played a crucial role,” she remarked.

The event took place in the second-floor hall of MAN 2 Kota Malang, equipped with complete facilities including buzzers, a projector, a scoreboard, and Islamic-themed decorations. The atmosphere grew increasingly lively with applause from the audience each time a correct answer was given.

Students who did not advance to the final round were directed to join the Maulid Nabi celebration in the main hall, held under the theme “Emulating the Prophet’s Character, Building a Strong and Noble Generation.” The session was conducted solemnly, creating a reflective and spiritually uplifting environment.
