Universities are encouraged to get better prepared for the Independent Learning-Independent Campus program. By the 2021/2022 odd semester, every university must be ready to implement the program. Director-General of Higher Education of the ministry of education, culture, research, and technology,  Prof. Ir. This was conveyed by Prof. Nizam when presenting his material for a webinar held by Unisma with the theme  Achievement of Higher Higher Education Performance Through implementation of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus Program.

On the occasion, Prof. Nizam said that technological, demographic, and cultural changes are happening more rapidly and massively in human life. The changes are very erratic in such a short period.

The system of life has changed significantly especially since the pandemic time. Various ways that were originally manual changed to digital automation. “This is a big challenge and task for universities to prepare human resources who are ready to respond to all these changes, including Unisma, it is important to be able to adapt quickly,” he said.

Because consideration of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus program is that each student has different potentials, aspirations, and passions,  the freedom to choose the best way to develop one’s potential through flexible learning becomes necessary.

This  Gajahmada University professor explained that the Independent Learning-Independent Campus program geared to produce superior human resources has nine activities namely student exchanges, internships, teaching in schools, research, humanitarian projects, student entrepreneurship, independent project studies, village building, and state defense as additional competencies. “This is what we mean by liberating and empowering education,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the rector of Unisma, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si,  in his speech expressed his gratitude for the presence of the Director-General of Higher Education in this NU-leading campus. “It is an honor for us as the  Director-General is pleased to share his thoughts in a webinar with Unisma and rectors from other NU universities,” he said.

Prof. Maskuri conveyed that the material for this webinar will be formally implemented in the upcoming odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. Even though all study programs at Unisma have implemented the Independent Learning-Independent Campus program, various kinds of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus programs have been launched and  Unisma has taken an optimal role since the Independent Learning-Independent Campus is very strategic to produce competitive programs,” he said.
