One of the research by a lecturer of Unisma received a grant entitled “Wringinanom Village Community Empowerment through Boerpe Goat Livestock Business to Improve Family Welfare”. The grant is from the Autonomous Learning-Independent Campus of Policy Research Program and Community Service based on research results and prototypes of private universities from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
This research was conducted in Besuki, Wringinanom village, Wringinanom District, Malang Regency by members of the Community Service Team led by Dr. Ir Inggit Kentjonowaty MP whose members are Dr. Ir Eko Noerhayati MT, Dr. Zukhriyan Zakaria M.Pd; Dr. Slamet Muchsin, MSi; Jeni Susyanti SE MM, and Arief Ardiansyag M.Pd.
Meanwhile, the BoerPE Goat itself is the result of research conducted by Inggit through the National Innovation System Research Incentive Proposal in 2017 – 2019. “The people of Wringinanom Village have a culture as farmers and breeders of goats and goats which so far have been farmed mostly ‘peanut’ goats, hybrid goats, Etawa goats) and sheep whose condition is not well farmed so that they are not economically profitable. This condition encourages us to empower the community through the BoerPE goat farm,” added Dr. Inggit.
Furthermore, on December 15, 2021, this team made a visit and counseling to Wringinanom Village regarding this activity. Various things related to BoerPe goats, Inggit said, were socialized to the village community, starting from their origins and various advantages. Moreover, FGDs were also carried out with community service partners, youth representatives, and community members around the location.
“The response from the FGD participants was very good and many questions were asked for clarity, not only the issue of raising BoerPE goats but also the sustainability of this program to sharing how to feed goats and adults,” she said.
Furthermore, this team also delivered two smart goat cage units, BoerPE goats consisting of 6 females and 1 superior male, feeding and livestock equipment as a follow-up to previous activities.
