INTRODUCING RAMADHAN TRADITIONS TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Unisma Malang held iftar (break-fasting) dinner with international students on Saturday (11/05/2019).  Office of International Affairs in collaboration with P2BA-BIPA University of Islam Malang organized this event.

25 international students, both those in degree and non-degree programs,  attended this activity. In his remarks, the Head of Office of International Affairs, Dr. Imam Wahyudi Karimullah, MA, expressed his gratitude to P2BA-BIPA for this event could be held to introduce the Ramadhan tradition of break- fasting in Indonesia.

Similar address was also expressed by the Rector of Unisma Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si. In his speech, he explained that  iftar is a common tradition in Indonesia with the aim of establishing social intimacy and means of hospitality.

“In our campus, during Ramadhan  the regular lecture hours are shortened and we allotted more time for Islamic activities,” said the rector of Unisma.

The rector of Unisma Malang also gave a short lecture about Ramadhan worship. One of the points is that many people are hungry and thirsty during fasting days, but few  are truley fasting since most  of them cannot avoid themselves from saying bad things to others.
