Universitas Islam Malang Vice Rector I, Erna Sulistyowati, paid a courtesy visit to PCINU Taiwan (Nahdlatul Ulama Special Branch in Taiwan), Pingtung Chapter, on Thursday, December 25, 2025. The visit was accompanied by a health education session for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) working in Pingtung and surrounding areas, Taiwan.
Dr. Erna was warmly welcomed by the board members of PCINU Taiwan Pingtung Chapter and the Chair of Lakpesdam PCINU Taiwan. The event was conducted in a family-like atmosphere and received enthusiastic participation from Indonesian migrant workers attending the session.
In her presentation, Dr. Erna emphasized the importance of maintaining mental health and effectively managing stress, particularly for migrant workers who face demanding workloads, long working hours, and the emotional strain of being away from their families. “Heavy work pressure, long hours, and distance from family can affect both physical and psychological health if not managed properly,” she explained.
She also advised participants to be cautious in maintaining their overall health, especially regarding medication use. “You need to be careful when taking medication, particularly for long-term use. Improper or unsupervised consumption can impact brain function and cognitive abilities,” Dr. Erna said.
Furthermore, she encouraged migrant workers to recognize early signs of work-related fatigue, adopt healthy stress management strategies, and prioritize preventive healthcare measures to remain productive and safe while working abroad.
This initiative was a collaborative effort between PCINU Taiwan Pingtung Chapter and Lakpesdam PCINU Taiwan, an institution that plays a strategic role in research and human resource development, including educational and mentoring programs for migrant communities. In his remarks, the Chair of Lakpesdam PCINU Taiwan expressed hope that the activity would create meaningful impact. “We hope this program not only increases health awareness among Indonesian migrant workers but also supports their personal development and enhances the quality of Indonesian human resources overseas,” he stated.
Through this program, PCINU Taiwan Pingtung Chapter and Lakpesdam PCINU Taiwan reaffirmed their commitment to providing initiatives that address the real needs of migrant workers while strengthening PCINU’s role as a platform for guidance, education, and solidarity among Nahdlatul Ulama members abroad.
