Universitas Islam Malang held a Year-End Dzikir and Muhasabah gathering for 2025, combined with the commemoration of the 16th haul (death anniversary) of Abdurrahman Wahid. The solemn event took place at Ainul Yaqin Mosque, UNISMA Malang, and was attended by foundation leaders, lecturers, and staff members of the university.
In his remarks, UNISMA Rector Prof. Drs. H. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D., stated that as 2025 reached its final day, the moment provided a meaningful opportunity for reflection, remembrance, and spiritual renewal, while honoring the legacy of Gus Dur, who passed away 16 years ago.
“Through this muhasabah, we reflect not only on our personal journeys but also on UNISMA’s institutional progress. What have we achieved over the past year, and what shortcomings must we improve moving forward?” he expressed.
Prof. Junaidi reaffirmed UNISMA’s determination to continue advancing. He emphasized that the entire academic community remains committed to propelling Universitas Islam Malang forward toward becoming a World-Class University. “As we close 2025, let us step into 2026 with greater enthusiasm and renewed dedication to serve and to bring UNISMA closer to its vision as a World-Class University,” he added.
The program also featured a mauidhoh hasanah (religious sermon) delivered by KH. Kholili, who underscored the essential role of knowledge and faith in achieving true success in life.
“Those who aspire to succeed in this world must possess knowledge. However, no matter how intelligent a person may be, without religion their life will remain incomplete. Religion serves as guidance and a moral anchor, just as the pillars of faith and Islam shape our foundation,” he stated.
KH. Kholili further encouraged participants to emulate the character of Gus Dur, known for his calmness, sincerity, and unwavering dedication to service. According to him, knowledge accompanied by faith and noble character leads individuals toward dignity and fulfillment of life’s purpose. Through this reflective gathering, UNISMA hopes that the spiritual values, intellectual commitment, and exemplary legacy of national figures like Gus Dur will continue to inspire and strengthen the academic community in facing the challenges of the coming years.
