The National Counterterrorism Agency is collaborating with the Malang Regency Government and Unisma in developing the Archipelago Special Territory for the deradicalization program for ex-terrorism convicts.
Head of The National Counterterrorism Agency, Commissary General Pol Boy Rafli Amar said that the Archipelago Integrated Special Area is planned to be developed by covering several aspects, namely deradicalization, economy, and tourism. “We are realizing the cooperation of three parties, The National Counterterrorism Agency, Unisma, and the Malang Regency Government in developing the area for the continuation of the deradicalization program,” said Boy.
Boy Rafli, the three-star police general, explained that the development of the concept of the Archipelago Integrated Special Zone is expected to begin in 2022. The Malang Regency Government provides land in the Turen District, Malang Regency, on an area of approximately 15 hectares.
According to him, one of the concepts that will be developed is that the area can later be used together related to food security studies and anti-radicalism programs. The concept is a continuation of the deradicalization program from The National Counterterrorism Agency.
The rector of Unisma, Prof. Dr. Maskuri, MSi, stated that it was necessary to make a master plan immediately. So it is necessary to sit down with the three parties together. After the master plan is ready, we will make a priority scale and work systematically. “I don’t want to work sporadically,” said Prof. Maskuri.
The goal is to accelerate education; ex-convicts must be busy with enjoyable activities to create a love for the Republic of Indonesia. Those activities might be in the areas of animal husbandry, fisheries, cooperatives, agriculture. “Because this is also an academic activity, Unisma will involve lecturers and students for implementing Autonomous Learning-Independent Campus program,” he concluded.
