Unisma is relentless in developing the quality of learning for students to an international level. One of them is holding an international standard webinar entitled Arabic Distance Learning for Non-Native Speakers: Opportunities and Challenges, Friday (17/12). The resource persons in the Webinar were an expert from Egypt’s Al Azhar University, Dr. Tamer Zaidan, and the head of Unisma’s Arabic Language Study Program, Dr. Nur Hasan MEd.
Dr. Nur Hasan told the participants of the webinar that in addition to commemorating World Arabic Language Day, the participants’ competence development was also carried out in mastering Arabic. In addition, this webinar is also an annual program conducted by the Foreign Language Development Center and Unisma’s Arabic Language Education Study Program. “Hopefully, Unisma students can communicate using Arabic easily and directly with Arabs, lecturers, or between students,” he said.
He said that distance learning is a clear concept which must have a special program, curriculum, material that is easy to understand. Hasan added that the distance learning material continues to be developed. “Many teachers and lecturers have language competence but are unable to carry out learning. Teachers and students must collaborate in developing learning by involving technology,” he said.
There are many Arabic distance learning strategies such as using voice recordings and listening to YouTube in Arabic. The goal is that teachers or students can understand the elements in Arabic because Arabic has pronunciation different from Indonesian.
