Universitas Islam Malang – Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) held the final briefing and official send-off ceremony for participants of the 2025 International PPL-KSM Program on Monday (August 4) at the FAI campus. The event marked the final preparation before 13 students depart for Penang, Malaysia, on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
The International PPL-KSM (Teaching Practicum and Community Service Program) is an annual initiative of FAI UNISMA aimed at strengthening students’ professional competencies in education at the international level while expanding global collaborative networks.
In his remarks, Dean of FAI UNISMA, Dr. Drs. KH. Abd. Jalil, M.Pd.I, emphasized the importance of mental readiness and adaptability in facing a different educational environment. “Through this International PPL-KSM program, you will encounter new challenges you may have never experienced before. Take this opportunity to learn and grow from those experiences,” he advised. He also reminded participants to maintain their health and discipline. “Stay enthusiastic throughout the program and apply the knowledge you have gained during your studies,” he added.
UNISMA Rector, Prof. Drs. H. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D., also delivered motivational remarks and officially sent off the participants. He noted that although Indonesia and Malaysia share cultural similarities, there are distinct differences in classroom dynamics. “Students in Malaysia tend to be more active and interactive in class. They are not hesitant to ask questions. Don’t be surprised if you are frequently interrupted while teaching,” he explained.
The Rector further stressed the importance of unity and well-being. “Good health is your primary asset. Maintain solidarity and adapt well. In terms of academic competence, I am confident you are fully prepared,” he said.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo as a symbol of the university’s support for the students’ departure. Through this program, FAI UNISMA reaffirms its commitment to producing educators who are capable of competing and contributing on the international stage.
