Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to strengthening its quality culture and enhancing its global competitiveness. As part of this effort, UNISMA held a Sharing Session titled “Strengthening Quality Culture and Strategies Toward International Accreditation” on Friday (October 11) at the university’s meeting hall.
The event featured Putu Mahardika Adi Saputra, Deputy for External Quality Assurance Systems at the Quality Assurance Office of Universitas Brawijaya, as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, Prof. Putu Mahardika shared in-depth insights and experiences on building a sustainable quality assurance system and outlining strategic pathways toward international accreditation.
According to him, achieving international accreditation goes beyond fulfilling documentary requirements—it requires a fundamental shift in mindset and the cultivation of a quality-oriented culture across all levels of the academic community.
“A quality culture must be embedded in every academic process, institutional governance structure, and educational service. International recognition will only be achieved when all campus stakeholders share a collective commitment and awareness of quality,” he emphasized.
The session was attended by university leaders, deans, heads of study programs, and quality assurance teams across UNISMA. Participants showed strong enthusiasm, engaging in interactive discussions on implementing quality systems, conducting self-evaluations, and preparing for accreditation visits from international bodies such as ACQUIN, ASIIN, and AHPGS.
In his opening remarks, the UNISMA Rector stated that the event forms part of the university’s broader strategic roadmap to prepare its study programs for global recognition.
“UNISMA is fully committed to continuously improving academic quality and institutional governance. Through collaboration, reflection, and learning from other universities, we are strengthening UNISMA’s position as a leading institution with international competitiveness,” he stated.
Through this Sharing Session, UNISMA aims to broaden perspectives and reinforce the academic community’s commitment to nurturing a sustainable culture of quality. Beyond knowledge exchange, the event also served as a consolidation platform for aligning perceptions and strategic actions across university units in building accountable, transparent, and globally standardized governance.
With a collaborative spirit and sustained commitment, UNISMA remains optimistic about realizing its vision of becoming an internationally reputable university rooted in the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah.
