Welcoming Independent Student Exchange Participants

A total of 34 students from various universities in Indonesia will take part in the independent student exchange in the country for the archipelago module segment at Unisma.

“This program is part of the Independent Domestic Student Exchange program specifically for the archipelago module as an effort to improve national insight, integrity, solidarity and talent pools among students throughout Indonesia through intercultural learning,” said vice-rector I for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Prof Drs H Junaidi M.Pd Ph.D, in welcoming participants of the Ministry of Education and Technology’s Independent Domestic Student Exchange program or limited offline inbound, Thursday (25/11/2021).

In his report, Junaidi said that the majority of the 34 students came from universities in the eastern region. Such as Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali to NTT.

The rector of Unisma, Prof. Dr. H Maskuri, welcomed all participants at Unisma which incidentally is the Nahdlatul Ulama campus as well as a multicultural campus.

This is in line with Unisma’s commitment to becoming a Campus Pioneer of Religious Moderation or Anti Radicalism and Intolerance by upholding a moderate attitude and no discrimination. “Once 125 students from Papua Christian University study at Unisma for 1 semester and their leaders also learn about the Learning Management System (LMS),” he concluded.

In addition to inbound students, there are also 46 outbound students of the implementation of Independent Learning-Independent Campus Program who attend off-campus lectures and are spread across 26 domestic universities such as North Sumatra University, Medan State University to Bali Udayana University.

One of inbound participants of the Ministry of Education and Technology’s Independent Domestic Student Exchange, Devani Pongliling, from the Chemistry Study Program, Faculty of Science, Cokroaminoto University, Palopo, South Sulawesi, admitted that this was the first time she had moved to get an education. She hopes that this will be a place to exchange ideas, insights, friendships between campuses and cultures. This is in line with the jargon of  Ministry of Education and Technology’s Independent Domestic Student Exchange program, “Exchanging temporarily but everlasting meaningful.”

“This is the most memorable thing in the history of my life journey and this is the farthest trip I have taken; the first time I left my parents and I was touched because I was proud to be able to be present at Unisma representing my campus,” she concluded.
