LAUNCHING HOUSE OF CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION

The concept initiated by Universitas Islam  Malang (Unisma) is always out of the box. Of course, this concept is implemented with various kinds of activities of lecturers and students. These activities include the Autonomous Learning – Independent Campus program, professional branding classes, OPOP (one Islamic boarding school One Product), to the golden generation of entrepreneurs. Recently, Unisma also inaugurated the house of culture and civilization yesterday.

Unisma’s rector, Prof. Dr. Maskuri, M.Si, said that the idea of ​​a house of culture and civilization is none other than because of Unisma as a multicultural campus. With this program, students can express the fashions of their respective regions through research studies, producing videos, posters, IPR journals, books, and others.

“There is a special venue to reveal various kinds of culture in Indonesia and the world. Explore culture and civilization, so that cultural assimilation and cultural exchange occur. Each culture is developed to become a tourist center through Unisma’s research,” he explained.

This house of culture and civilization program is a joint study between Unisma and various regions. The goal is to be a superior program and introduce Unisma to all regions and even the world.

“Of course we love Indonesia, we continue to encourage it. Now around 44 students are studying at Unisma from the Autonomous Learning – Independent Campus program, some offline and online. This is a part of the archipelago module,” he said.

Prof. Maskuri also said that Unisma is a multicultural campus. It’s not just a matter of culture, but multiculturalism in religion, so that  Unisma can create a harmonious environment from various ethnic groups, cultures to religions.

The Directorate General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Hilmar Farid., P.hD welcomed the Unisma’s house of culture and civilization which is because this is in line with the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia as stated in Law No. 5 of 2017 concerning the promotion of culture. These efforts are to protect the development, use, and fostering of culture.

“We all hope that more and more regional heads will be inspired to develop their roles for the advancement in culture. In addition, universities are not only actively providing information, but advancing culture is also very important,” he said.
