Webometrics announced the list of the best universities in the world and Indonesia through the Webometrics Ranking of the 2022 World Universities. In the January 2022 edition, 2.593 universities in Indonesia are included in the latest Webometrics ranking.
This edition brings good news for campuses in Malang, especially Unisma. This year, a brilliant achievement was achieved by Universitas Islam Malang (Unisma). Various efforts in institutional development and efforts to improve the quality of education on the NU campus have achieved good results.
In 2022, Unisma is ranked 76th out of 2.593 Indonesian universities by Webometrics. The ranking is a special pride because as a private university, Unisma was able to enter the top 100 universities.
This is a huge leap made by Unisma. In the previous year, 2021, Unisma was ranked 207. This means that Unisma Malang has made a 131-digit jump overtaking other universities.
Meanwhile, quoted from the official website, Webometrics is a ranking agency of all world universities.
The ranking of Webometrics is carried out by the Cybermetric Lab, which is a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). CSIC itself is the largest public research body in Spain that ranks among more than 31,000 higher educational institutions in the world.
Webometrics released this ranking not haphazardly, but some are used. Previously, there were four indicators used, but now it has changed to three indicators. The use of the Presence indicator has been discontinued.
The three ranking indicators are:
1 . Visibility (50 percent) as measured by the number of external networks connected to the institution’s website.
- Transparency (10 percent) is an assessment of the number of citations from the top 210 authors.
- Excellence (40 percent) or the number of scientific publication articles among the top 10 percent of the most cited from 27 disciplines.
