UNISMA ESTABLISHES EDUCATIONAL SYNERGY WITH THE EUROPEAN UNION

The Forum of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) University Rectors held an international webinar entitled Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education Opportunities in Developing Cooperation Networks with the European Union in collaboration with Unisma. This online activity presented the European Union Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, H.E Mr. Vincent Picket.

The rector of Unisma, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si, who is also the chairman of the forum hopes that Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education can establish cooperation in the field of education and scholarships with countries in the European Union. “International cooperation with the European Union is very important for Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education. We can collaborate in the fields of education, research, and entrepreneurship. That is our great goal,” said Prof. Maskuri.

According to the Chair of the Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education Forum, international cooperation is also in line with the Independent Learning-Independent Campus program that has been implemented by Unisma. And this opportunity also proves Unisma’s tagline, namely From NU for Indonesia and World Civilization, “he explained.

In addition, Mr. Vincent, the European Union Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, warmly welcomed the plan for cooperation in the education sector with Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education. According to him, the European Union opens the door as widely as possible for Indonesian students. “Europe is a popular destination for Indonesian students. More than 4000 Indonesian students each year study in Europe. In addition, the European Union has the Erasmus program providing 1200 scholarships for Indonesian students,” he said.
